Carmel started composing on the piano around the age of 5, with her patient mother scribing on her behalf. Skip ahead to her final year of schooling and she composed a piece for her school orchestra, as well as arranging music for choir and ensemble, to then go on and win the house choir competition having taught and then conducted the competition.

More recently, alongside her electronic compositions, Carmel composed and performed a piece for 3 female voices as part of "Echo", a performance with The House That Dan Built in January of 2020. She also DJ'd and produced some of the music for the performance.

In 2024 Carmel wrote the music and lyrics, along with co-writing the storyline for a musical entitled "Only The Brave!" comissioned by and performed by a local primary school. Carmel not only composed the music, but also taught and rehearsed the students, produced the backing tracks and sound effects, choreographed and conducted the performances.

2025 saw her teaching and conducting and singing in "100 Women" a work by 6 female Australian composers set to the text of 100 women around Australia, sharing their stories of resilience, connection to community, and reflections on their lives through one on one interviews.
